5384. Answering the Call With the 91st Infantry Division in the Italian Campaign During World War II, by Stephen L. Wilson (read 16 June 2016) This is a book compiled by the son of a man who went through ROTC at the University of South Dakota and then in 1944 joined the Army, went through OCS at Fort Benning, and in May of 1944 arrived in North Africa and shortly thereafter went to Italy and was involved with the fighting north of Rome till the war ended. He then was in Austria with the Occupation forces there till he came home to South Dakota in October 1945. The book relies on letters written by the officer to his wife and on things told to the author. Obviously the book is of most interest to people who know the officer but I found it attention-holding and as it related the homecoming it reminded me of my brother's homecoming (after 4 years), also in October 1945 and of the high emotion surrounding such. The author is to be commended on the able presentation of his father's sterling war record. ( )
