Then there’s An Exaltation of Larks, which is brilliantly written, fascinating, and essentially becomes a new genre every 10,000 words. It starts off on a college campus with weird things happening, and whenever you think you have some idea what’s going on, you just don’t. There’s a section where the characters are alien turtles floating in space. It has been, for more than a decade, show more the indisputable weirdest book in the house. show less

Robert Reed is an American science fiction author. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 9, 1956, and received a B.S. in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1987. He worked as a lab technician for several years, before being able to earn his living as a full-time author. Reed has won numerous literary awards show more throughout his prolific career, most notably, the Hugo Award in 2007 for his novella, A Billion Eyes.
