A stand alone story/novella about Matt who can "see what people are dreaming about even when they have their eyes open. And she can hear the voices of the human-made world: buildings, roads, cars, streetlights, trash cans, anything shaped by contact with humanity could speak to Matt".

A quick mystery. Why are the people in town acting really crazy? It is a very unique reason.
I wonder if we will see Gwen again someday and learn of the outcome of her experiment. I struggled with some story lines that weren't Matt's. Ex. Ronnie who woke up as his 9 year old self and didn't recognize his adult body, of course, but people were acting crazy because of these memories but he just sat on the couch and waited to return to himself. Also show more there seems to be an extreme amount of people suppressing memories of childhood molestation. That was a bit much for me. Now that I understand what is going on, I may understand better with a re-read. show less
Nina Kiriki Hoffman is an amazing writer; this is the first Matt Black book (followed later by Red Heart of Memories and others).
by Hoffman, from eBay, unread, urban fantasy
