This wonderful book is just packed full with many beautiful pictures, history and commentary on the Vatican and Christian Rome. The city of Rome is principally Christian and the Vatican Museums and the famous Christian landmarks of Rome underline this. This book focus is on the properties that are under the control of the Vatican itself. Which not only includes the Vatican City State itself, but various locations throughout the city of Rome including all the catacombs.

The book explains in detail each building of the Vatican City. As well as the extensive collection of art collected and preserved by the Roman Catholic Church that are displayed in Vatican Museums. Photos accompany the text to help gives a small glimpse of what is there. I wish I had this book with me when I visited the Vatican. A good read. ( )
