This is a great story about friendship. Yak and Dove are very different. When they start looking at ways they are different, they decide that maybe they should not be friends and end up angry with one another. When Yak goes looking for a new friend, he needs help. He does not know how to go about finding a friend. After holding auditions, he realizes that he and Dove do have things in common and they care about one another. This book is made up of 3 short stories that emphasize what makes a friend. They can be very different and still like one another. Esme Shapiro's illustrations are cute and certainly add to the story. The expressions on the faces of the animals shows their feelings well. A great book for kindergarten and early primary classrooms as well as families with young children. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. ( )

Yak and Dove are two very different creatures: Yak is very big, Dove is very small; Yak prefers the quiet, Dove is often noisy. They seem to have nothing in common. This book contains three short stories showing that you don't have to be exactly alike in order to be good friends. The illustrations, done in watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil, complement the stories nicely, and overall the book is a pleasant read.

A lovely book about two unlikely friends, comprising of separate stories that connect, sort of like Frog and Toad. Lovely lovely lovely. ( )

This is a sweet book with adorable illustrations that I enjoyed reading to my grandchildren. I don't always enjoy the story as much as them, but I did with this book. Lovely book with a lovely message. ( )

This is a very sweet story about friendship. Two unlikely characters are friends, but then fall out of friendship after a fight. Yak searches for a new best friend, but discovers that Dove is the best possible friend he could have. This story is excellent for younger readers, learning about friendship, and how you don't have to have everything in common to be best friends. ( )
