Less educational about disabilities, more of a sweet story about a girl in a wheelchair and her dog, where the girl simply gets to be the celebrated character in her own story.

For Zara's dog, Moose, nothing is more important than being with her favorite girl. So when Zara has to go to school, WHOOSH, Moose escapes and rushes to her side. Hello, Moose! Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed at school and Moose has to go back home. Goodbye, Moose. But Moose can't be held back for long. Through a series of escalating escapes, this loyal dog always finds her way back to Zara, and with a little bit of training and one great idea, the two friends find a way to be together all day long.

Moose is Zara's best friend. Moose loves "hellos" and hates "goodbyes". Hello means she gets to play with Zara. Goodbye mean she's left all alone. Moose does everything in her power to run back to Zara and gets into a bit of trouble while doing so, until Zara, who is in a wheelchair, comes up with a brilliant idea: therapy dog school! Moose goes to therapy dog school and once she graduates, she's finally welcomed to join Zara at school. Hello Goodbye Dog was a sweet story that illustrates the love dogs have towards their owners. The only thing is: I wish the author would have elaborated a bit more on Zara's disability because I'm left with questions. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it! ( )

Zara's big dog, Moose, does NOT like goodbyes, and he keeps trying to join her at school Zara has an idea: she'll take Moose to therapy dog school - then, he can join her at her school!

Zara is in a wheelchair, but Moose is not a guide dog. There is an author's note about therapy dogs, especially "read dogs" who come into classrooms and libraries.

Lively illustrations show Moose's exuberance and the love and affection between Zara and Moose, as well as the other adults and kids' reactions to Moose at school. ( )
