The first full novel in this series and it's great fun. Mary Jo got me with her start in the library and kept my interest throughout. Set around the time of the Bonnie Prince Charlie rebellion this is a story of hard choices and trying to keep love alive.

Gwynne Owens is a very strong character and her relationship with Duncan Macrae is great fun. They are married early in the book but don't really know each other well they have to learn all about each other and their powers. I look forward to more in this series, I like the world she has created.
I was intrigued to read about a romance with magic elements so I started this series. Duncan is a powerful Scottish laird who can control the weather. Gwyneth is a beautiful Englishwoman who is widowed young and then marries Duncan to try to bring peace between the Scottish and English clans. She soon discovers she has the powers of an enchantress. The clan who can do magic is called Guardians. The book is good but improbable at times (of course, it's a fantasy!).
Who wouldn't want to be an Enchantress? I love this author's storytelling abilities. Although not as lush as her sweeping historicals, I highly recommend MJP's Magic series.
my love of the romance is back....Damn those highlanders....
