This was a "did not finish" for me. I like Matt Lucas, but the writing style was not for me. I have read some great reviews of this book, so I really think it was a me thing. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I was fortunate enough to win a copy of this book from LibraryThing's Early Reviewers.I was interested in this book because I highly enjoyed Matt Lucas' character on Doctor Who; he was the right combination of seriousness and comedic relief...okay, mostly comedic relief. But he was a character to be taken seriously. And this combination of honesty, vulnerability, and yes, comedy, shone through in this book. I guess my only negative would be that I didn't relate to Lucas as much as I was hoping, probably because I am not as familiar with his other work as he is a British actor and, alas, I am not British. However, it was a good read. 3.5 stars. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. *I received a free copy of this book in exchange for providing a review of it* I found Little Me to be a entertaining piece of writing, at times hilarious, at times close to wrenching in its honesty. My biggest difficulty in reading this book was its assumption of knowledge of British comedy. There were many references to British comedy shows that I simply couldn't understand. Lucas's frank discussion of his awareness of his homosexuality and his sometimes painful teenage years rang very true. no reviews | add a review
The hilarious, heart-warming and tear-jerking memoir from one of Britain's best-loved comedians and actors, Matt Lucas. 'Hello there. Welcome to my autobiography. I see they've made my teeth whiter in the photo, so that's good. Throughout this book I talk about my life and work, including Little Britain, Come Fly With Me, Bridesmaids, Les Miserables, Alice In Wonderland and, of course, Shooting Stars. The thing is, this is a bit different to most memoirs you may have read, because it comes in the form of an A-Z. For instance, B is for Baldy! - which is what people used to shout at me in the playground (not much fun), G is for Gay (because I'm an actual real life gay) and T is for the TARDIS (because I'm a companion in Doctor Who now). You get the sort of thing.Anyway I hope you buy it at least twice. Thank you.' No library descriptions found. |

Would I recommend this book? I guess if you're looking for a pretty light bio somewhat comparable to Jon Cryer's [b:So That Happened: My Unexpected Life in Hollywood|22571499|So That Happened My Unexpected Life in Hollywood|Jon Cryer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1427548198l/22571499._SX50_.jpg|41999458], this is probably it. Although I did enjoy his reading and voice. So yeah, it was fine and I would go so far as to recommend the audiobook. ( )
