I liked that it was a historical book that had a good story and gave you insight of the times. They both have their issues from the war and are drawn to each other , but also have to really look at what they want. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Drew is a WWI vet suffering physical and mental wounds and mourning the loss of his fiancee. Audra is a war widow with her own mental wounds from her service a a nurse on the front lines. It might take a little help from the afterlife to get these two people together.I really liked this book for a number of reasons. First the post WWI setting was a refreshing change from usual historical romance eras. Second, both the hero and the heroine were suffering the effects of shell shock, rather than just the man. Third, the main characters were engaging and realistic. I liked the fact that Audra want to do more with her life than take on the role most accepted for women in that era. She rejects Drew's attempt to do the "right" thing, forcing him to reevaluate his feelings. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. First of all, either the editing of this book was atrocious or it just didn't transfer over well in e-book form. Here is an example of what I had to contend with throughout the book: “Would you like me²€ld you liy">me²€ld to drive you?... This happened on every other page. Dealing with this had nothing to do with the 3 stars I am giving this book Review: Texas right after WWI Drew Harwood has returned home from the war both physically and mentally. He employed his soldier friend Brady, to help him run his ranch. Drew and his mother have turned their home into a B & B. Their first guest is Brady's sister, Audra Donaldson. Both Drew and Audra find that they have a lot in common as both are suffering from Post War syndrome. This was a typical romance story and no surprise at the end. I didn't appreciate the open bedroom door. This could have been handled so much better. Instead it becomes a rated R book. Also the spirit of Drew's first fiance getting the two of them together was a little too much. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Can you ever recover form the past. Drew has just returned from war after spending months recovering but his life is about to change even more as his wife to be dies within days of him arrives home. Audra has come to visit her brother but he wasn't exactly honest about her living arrangements and she finds it really hard to get on with Drew as he doesn't want her help. She knows what it is like to have nightmares from the war, she was a nurse and she still suffers from them as well. But Drew doesn't believe that he should be allowed happiness, he has a bad leg and he is too afraid that he will hurt her when he is having a nightmare. He shames her by asking to marry her even though he doesn't love her, he thinks that he needs to be a gentleman now that they have slept together. Can they ever heal from the hurt of the past and can their guiding angel help them find their way to happiness and love? A good read no reviews | add a review
