Nord est le récit du voyage que Céline, sa femme Lili, leur chat Bébert et leur ami, l'acteur Le Vigan, ont entrepris à travers l'Allemagne dans les mois qui précèdent la chute du Reich. Pas par plaisir, certes, mais quelle autre solution que de s'exiler quand vos concitoyens vous menacent de mort? La première étape est un palace de Badin-Badin dont Céline décrit les hôtes sans ménagement. La halte parmi ces nantis de la terre, nourris de caviar et de bouillabaisse, est écourtée par l'annonce de l'attentat contre Hitler. Arrêt suivant : Berlin qui croule . sous les bombes, mais où règne l'ordre incarné dans sa bureaucratie tracassière. Par chance, Céline a une K bonne adresse » qui conduit leur quatuor sous la protection du professeur Harras. Puis c'est le repli cent kilomètres plus loin à Zornhof, où Céline et les siens survivent tant bien que mal jusqu'au départ pour le Danemark sur lequel se clôt le livre. Zornhof, ses Polonaises, ses Bibel et ses châtelains fous, ses oies et ses rats... C'est tout Céline que l'on retrouve dans cette chronique amère -avec sa virulence hallucinée, son style à l'emporte-pièce.

I tried, but could not finish this. Too many unpleasant people doing pointless things in avant garde style of writing.
