The first several months of Milt Caniff's great adventure strip, "Steve Canyon". Caniff left "Terry and the Pirates" because he did not own the characters or the rights, and created a strip with that proviso. Very nearly the equal of "Terry...", this first book (from Jan.13, 1947 to May 15, 1947) contains an origin essay about the strip, and introduces Steve, his flight crew, Copper Calhoon, Feeta-Feeta and Delta. "Steve Canyon" fell into disfavor during the Viet Nam war, but it is among the best of the adventure comic strips. ( )
