A sensible schoolmistress...Awakened by the notorious rake! In this The Wild Warriners story, schoolmistress Felicity Blunt feels old beyond her years-and desperately dull. Meeting confirmed rake Jacob Warriner brings her gloriously to life, yet no matter his allure, she must remain immune to his obvious charms and unashamed flirtation. What begins as just another mission, turns into something OH SO MUCH more as we dive into the final installment in the Wild Warriners quartet.

This time around we are getting to know the youngest of the Warriner brothers, Jacob aka Jake aka Philanderer aka Rake aka Jake the Snake...shall I continue? Perhaps not, in that vein at least, but a few of the names thrown his way do a fair bit of telling about his character...or at least the one he projects. Thing is, there's a reason behind his lack of interest in finding another half., why he seeks passing fun and not something that involves all the messy emotions of the heart. Thing is...sometimes what we aren't looking for smacks us upside the head when we weren't watching and is more often than not, exactly what we didn't realize we needed. In Jake's case, her name is Fliss.

She is the one...that starts out as another mark and turns into something with greater potential. Fliss is without a doubt unlike any of the girls/women Jake has "handled" yet, so much so that she gets under his skin from the very start not with simply her looks or manners, but her whit, forthrightness, and unapologizing view on life (when she can see, that is...what is with Crowley's problem with her spectacles!). She's the only one that's seen through his facade to the man beneath and if he isn't careful, she may blow a cover he never intended to have revealed.

I adored this one at least as much as the last, from start to finish and everything in-between. There were multiple passages I simply had to stop and share where our dear Fliss got the better of her "companions". I found myself with a goofy grin as I saw Jake falling into something he didn't even recognize himself. I laughed outright at the indignation Fliss displayed at having her wardrobe replaced, her day directed, and her person displaced whenever business came calling...you'd understand if you read it. I was totally and completely swept up in the magic of it all and couldn't be happier with the outcome...including a flash forward surprise of the whole gang!

All in all, a grand adventure and another enticingly brilliant installment in the Wild Warriners series. A must read for Historical Fiction fans, or even those simply looking for a romance that has more to the story line than a pillowed destination.

Another terrific book by Virginia Heath. She is an excellent matchmaker between Jacob (Jake) Warriner and Felicity (Fliss) Blunt. I love the dialogue between the hero and heroine and the situations that they are put into make for an exciting read.

The Wild Warriners are a fantastic bunch. The whole series is a strong 5 star recommend from me and I would give it a ten if I could. ( )

A Warriner to Seduce Her is a historical suspense written by Virginia Health, an author which I have read in the past, and really enjoyed her books, as her writing style and plots have never failed to pull me into the book. But I struggled a little with this book, and I think the reason is that I had read none of the other books in the series, which was a major mistake on my part.

Even though I struggled with the characters, I did really enjoy the verbal sparring between Jake and Fliss. But I found the book to be a little jumpy in parts; I really struggled with a scene where Jake is pouring his heart out to Fliss, and the next thing, they are heading to bed together, with the bare minimum of consoling, and that was just one part I struggled with. I think if I had read the series from the beginning, it would have been more familiar to me, and even though it's a good book, it doesn't inspire me to read the series now.

I give A Warriner to Seduce Her 3 stars ( )
