Bates provides a view of a WW II war zone I know little about. It would appear there is less literature about it. Thus I found this of interest mainly because he gave me a sense of what it would have been like to fly planes in the jungle of Burma. He also presents what I assume is an actuate picture of how the native population felt about these intruders, both Japanese & British.
