Lei sostiene che da quando Estelle si è trasformata da un giorno all'altro in una strega urlante, casa nostra è diventata l'inferno in terra. A volte ha talmente paura che non entra neanche dalla porta di casa come un normale essere umano. Parcheggia la macchina un po' più in là, si avvicina furtiva e bussa alla finestra della stanza dove faccio i compiti, lo la apro e mi affaccio. La mamma è lì, nell'aiuola, con tutte le scarpe infangate. "In che stato è tua sorella?" "Ha la luna storta" rispondo. Sul viso della mamma si dipinge un'espressione spaventata. "Oddio. Aiutami a entrare". Non riesco a immaginare che cosa penseranno i vicini, show more vedendola sollevare la gonna e arrampicarsi sulla finestra ogni giorno. Anne Fine was the second Children's Laureate in Britain between 2001 and 2003. She is a two time winner of the Carnegie Medal, Britain's most coveted children's literature award, and has also won the Guardian Children's Literature Award, the Whitbread Children's Novel Award twice, and a Smarties Prize. She also won the Publishing News Children's show more Author of the Year Award in 1990 and again in 1993. In 2010 she won the inaugural Good Writing Award.
