Mo is a zombie with a secret passion for vegtables. While his family enjoys brains, he'd prefer broccoli. When he tries to trick his family into eating vegtables, they hate them. But eventually Mo explains to them that he's just a bit different, and is still their son.
There are three things I focus on with children's books: what is it teaching the children, is it entertaining, and are the characters just straight, white, males? This book managed to hit all three points: it's an adorable story about zombies, it teaches the importance of embracing differences, and uses Spanish words. The family is also Latinx. I also really love zombies, so that helped too.

This is a cute endearing book about being different and still being loved and accepted by your family. Mo the zombie loves veggies....which isn't acceptable zombie grindage, but is certainly a good example for your little ones. Zombie lovers ..like those in my household.....will love this one. The included recipes are a nice touch.
Little details make me think that fans of zombies will get more out of it, like the surname Romero, and the author Jonathan Saffron Core (Gore?). Of course I appreciated that the parents finally decided they love Mo despite him being different. But probably the best part is the set of recipes at the end.
I love books where I get the opportunity to introduce different words!! This book was such a fun hit for Chief Jo's family nights.......and due to the Spanish phrases, the kids asked a lot about food in other cultures!
Maybe a little macabre, but a funny story of a zombie boy who defies family expectations by loving vegetables.
This book was really funny, cute, and enjoyable to read. I think most students would like reading this book, especially young boys.
Mauricio was a young zombie boy who loved eating vegetables. His parents and friends could not believe he did not eat normal zombie foods. At first they were angry with Mauricio but eventually he was able to persuade them that he was different and that it was okay to be that way.
