Description
The scene was an exact replica of the one that had taken place twenty-four hours earlier. John Rawlings stood in the shop at Apothecaries' Hall buying the herb known as true-love. November 1758, and the Livery Dinner had just taken place at the Apothecaries’ Hall. Unfortunately there was an outbreak of food poisoning, resulting in the death of one of the apothecarys. John Rawlings is suspicious of the death and investigates. This will not be the last death but what could the possible motive be.

I've read this and Death at the Beggar's Opera by Deryn Lake, and decided not to read her further. Her writing style is too simplistic and repetitive, and is peppered with the written equivalent of soap opera "reaction shots". It's a shame, because I thought I'd found a good author with an interesting subject matter.
