"Since her mischief-making childhood with Robbie Danby, Rowenna has curbed her impetuous nature and become a lady. When she meets Robbie again in York, he's close to claiming his knighthood. Their newly awakened affection inspires in Rowenna a new - decidedly adult - impulsiveness! Yet Robbie's heart appears to belong to another - unless a midsummer kiss could change everything...?"--Page 4 of cover.… (more)

Rowenna has a problem with her birth; her father was illegitimate, it reduces her chances of a great marriage, she's being herded to a marriage with someone who will help her father's business for want of another choice. Robbie Danby comes back into her life, a childhood friend being trained as a squire with a hope of becoming a knight and with hopes of marrying his sponsor's daughter. He has a stammer and this colours his life and a secret about himself that could cause his life to be upended.

It's an interesting story with some good details about York in the middle ages and about some of the riots during the period. It was a good read. ( )
