USA Today bestselling author Vivienne Lorret launches a charming new trilogy about three debutantes who get more than they bargained for when it comes to the mating habits of scoundrels . . . Heiress Winnifred Humphries refuses to marry the odious man her parents have chosen. She'll marry for love or not at all. But how does a woman know a man truly loves her? Needing answers, she sets out to discover the marriage habits of London's aristocrats. Yet when her friends kidnap a lord for research, Winn knows they've gone too far. Now she's facing a wickedly handsome scoundrel who wants revenge. Lord Asher Holt has the perfect plan to free himself of his father's debts. But when a trio of foolish debutantes abducts him, their scheme ruins everything! Fuming and tied to a chair, Holt overhears that one of them is an heiress. Perhaps he isn't above a little kidnapping either. Yet, when the heiress runs away from her own wedding and straight into his waiting carriage, Holt finds himself on an adventure he'll never forget, falling in love with a woman worth more than any treasure. But will Winn ever believe his heart only desires her . . . and not her fortune?… (more)

While the books in this series could be stand-alones, it IS better to read them in order. I had started with the 4th and was ready to DNF it. However, reading it AFTER the prior 3, it is now quite enjoyable.

Road trip was fun. Mild chemistry. 3rd act conflict had one twist/surprise that made the story, in hindsight, a bit confusing (at least to me)

Mid 3. ( )

Have I just discovered a new favorite author? I believe I have!

This book embodies everything I love about historical romances - cheesy, misunderstandings, difficult parents, romance, jealousy, insecurities, a thrilling adventure, all neatly tied up. Yes, it's over-the-top and its perfect!

Right from the start, I was engaged. It's simple yet romantic — a perfect blend.

Absolutely love it. Chef's kiss. ( )

THE REVIEW
This book was such an adventure! Poor Winn has grown up being painfully aware that she is not desirable; her hair is too red and wild, her body is too plump and her face has too many freckles. Her mother critiques her constantly and her dad is distant. Her father has arranged a marriage to man who is clearly only marrying her for her large dowry, doesn’t find her attractive in the slightest and openly is in love with his mistress.

Asher has had a tough life dealing with his fathers chaos of gambling debt and manipulations. But lately his father has been borrowing money in Asher’s name and owes large sums to some bad people! He has a plan with two of his friends to set sail with a treasure map they found hoping to find their fortune.

Dynamic is seriously the best word I can think of to describe the plot; there are so many factors that plan into the adventure that Winn and Asher find themselves on. When Winn runs away from the church on the day of her wedding, she runs right into Asher’s waiting carriage. And the adventure begins! This was such an amazing story and the characters had depth and growth over the course of their journey. There were twists in the plot and surprises throughout. I’m ready for the next adventure in this series!

Right up my alley - plump, insecure heiress and dashes of angst and some fun shenanigans. I also enjoyed the bits of second chance romance between Winn’s parents!. Solid fun read, the series is promising too. ( )
