![]() None No current Talk conversations about this book. ![]() ![]() This volume wasn't as enjoyable as the first, although I do think it's cute that Kanda and his boyfriends are still getting on well. The main issue I had was the "idol" comic, where Kanda's coworkers start treating him distantly because they think he has a girlfriend. Because they want to "preserve" their image of him. Which somehow having a girlfriend would tarnish. The canonically noted - by his coworkers! - sad widower. Would have his image tarnished among his coworkers. By getting a girlfriend, who is seemingly what is making him happy. This is such a stupid plot I don't even have words to describe how absurdly stupid it is. This is a big thing in Jpop and Kpop idol culture, and it's awful there, and it's... really cringe here. Otherwise it's an okay volume. Probably won't be getting volume 3, though. In this second volume of the sweet manga series about an elderly widower and his new cat, they continue to discover each other. Fukumaru patrols Mr. Kanda’s house, day and night, making sure his human is safe. Mr. Kanda learns that a cat can take up all of a bed, or sleep on any part of his body- and Fukumaru is a heavy cat. Fukumaru slowly learns to trust that Mr. Kanda will love him, no matter what. This volume shows a little bit more of Mr. Kanda’s life before Fukumaru. In the first volume we learned that Mr. Kanda was a widower, and that getting Fukumaru seemed to be helping him navigate his grief. In this volume, his wife shows up more in flashback and is revealed to be a great lover of cats. We also see a bit of Mr. Kanda’s childhood. The book is heartwarming and cute and occasionally very silly. Recommended if you love cats and/or like graphic novels that are more slice-of-life than a big-stakes plot. no reviews | add a review
