Came back to the series out of a misplaced sense of nostalgia. My bad. ( )

erm..This was fun but again came off as a little goofy for me with the Captain Bond stuff. ( )

Where is James Bond? What have you done with him? This character sounds like a rookie not a seasoned operative. In his first conversation with "M", he is wimpy, a pale version of the real James Bond. The author uses sex scenes to capture the real Bond but makes a poor job of it. It is ill thought out with ridiculous dialogue. The story is a "B" movie with a lot of high school drama. ( )

Another passable spy tale by Gardner featuring an agent with the same name as Ian Fleming's character. ( )

A competent and workmanlike treatment of the James Bond character by an author who has obviously studied the character's history and personality, but lacks Ian Fleming's flair for the story and the man. A fairly standard tale of terrorists attempting to sabotage a summit meeting and kidnap for ransom Margaret Thatcher, George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev, made palatable by the presence of James Bond.
