Description
Out of sight, out of mind! Bunny girls do not live in libraries. This is simply common sense. And yet, that's exactly where Sakuta finds one in the wild. More bewildering is who the bunny girl is: Mai Sakurajima, a girl one year older than Sakuta, famous at their school for her acting career even though she's currently on break. To top it all off, it seems like no one else in the library can see Mai at all, no matter what she does or...wears. Wanting to find out more about this mystery and show more maybe get a little closer to this beautiful upperclassman in the process, Sakuta launches an investigation to discover why an unforgettable bunny girl keeps becoming totally invisible. show lessTags

First of all, it's kind of funny how much more pervy the writing is in the novel compared to the anime but it still doesn't turn me away. I always liked how this series embraced its sexuality and it's no different here. Rather than being lame and annoying like it is in most media of this kind, to me it comes across as honest and almost endearing in a "He's just like me fr" type way. It also helps that the main cast's banter always makes me smile. Their blunt jabs and remarks to each other create a dynamic that makes the book very hard to put down.
Besides just the quality of the characters, this first volume's arc remains amazing and I was surprised how well it flowed as I read, as I'm not the biggest book reader myself. I binged it show more pretty quickly and even as someone who has watched the anime in full multiple times (it's a personal favorite of mine), reading this still felt completely fresh and only served to enhance my love for the series, its characters, the supernatural twists, and what it all has to say about growing up while learning how to fend for yourself in a world that seems it always has something new to throw at you, beating you down to your lowest all over again.
Maybe in the grand scheme of things, this book isn't the greatest thing ever, but this series as a whole had a lot of things to say that I honestly needed to hear during the time they came to me. This book holds a very special place in my heart and is one of those things that is perfect to me. show less

i am irrationally angry that they translated away things like honorifics and changed all the metric measurements to imperial. but i love this story so much and am glad to finally get to its original, slightly more fleshed-out form that it more than makes up for it.
and despite already being intimately familiar with the story from multiple rewatches of the anime and having read the manga adaptation, the end of chapter 4 literally almost made me cry, even though that part of the anime never made me tear up. so. kinda dreading getting to the parts where the anime makes me ugly cry!
