Bo and his new dog wander around checking out animal sounds while they wait to see what the dog will sound like.

Even my dog-loving daughter found this book meh when she was two-and-a-half.

FOR REFERENCE:

Rated “Indifferent" in our old book database by Rod and Adelia.
The Pup Speaks Up is a picture book about a boy who go for a walk and meet other animals along the way. I would use this in class because it helps with learning animals and it an easy to read book. I would use this for children ages 2,3, and 4.
"...From the Step into Reading series are labeled "phonics--ready to read." In Pup, this means using rhyme and repetition; ...A small, black-and-white dog greets his new owner, but unlike the other animals, who quack, honk, and oink with impunity, Pal says nothing....Prereaders can use their skills to match the animals with their sounds."
