George and the man with the yellow hat take a trip to the library arriving right during story hour. George sees a dinosaur book on the table that the librarian plans to read, but each time she picks up a different story to read. George becomes inpatient and sneaks over to take the book about dinosaurs, and then discovers books on planes, trucks, cranes, boats, kites, and baking cakes. He finds so many books that he can't carry them all until he finds a rolling cart which works great. But this cart gets George into trouble because as you know, he is a very curious monkey.
The Curious George stories illustrate modern fantasy for the young elementary students since most people do not own and take their monkey everywhere with them. The idea show more would be interesting though. show less

George takes a trip to the library, initially he wanted a book about dinosaurs, but he started to wander around looking at all the books to borrow-- and he and I seem to have something in common! he wanted to read pretty much everything he saw! Hahaha
Cute! Part of this story hit home with me! When I'm on a children's book kick (like now!), I go through the children's section picking an armload of books off the shelves too. Hmmm, my very own booktruck at the public library? I'll have to look into that! :D

In this Curious George adventure George visits the Library. George goes to story time and he sees a dinosaur book. George wants the storyteller to read the book about dinosaurs, but she doesn't. So George takes it. Just when the storyteller is about to read it she sees that the dinosaur book is gone. George starts looking at books he sees a book about trucks, elephants, boats, planes, cakes, and kites. He finds a cart full of books and thought it was a shelf, but i was a cart of books. The cart rolls off. George and the kids from storytime help put away the books and George gets his very own library card. George only checks out 3 books from the library.
This book is a good example of modern fantasy because it is about a monkey who is a pet to the man in the yellow hat and who does things that a child would do such as go to story time at the library and want to read a lot of books. It also talks about the mischief he gets in when he grabs too many books and tries to leave without checking them out.

This book is a fantasy book. The events that occur could happen in real life, however it is fantasy because Curious George (the monkey) is personified.
Plot: The plot in the book is about Curious George going to the library. He ends up looking for books that he likes and makes a mess, then helps clean them up. The plot is good because it contains conflict and resolution. This plot can be seen as person to person, in which the Curious George has an encounter with a library volunteer.

Hans Augusto Rey was born on September 16, 1898 in Hamburg, Germany. He escaped to Paris with his wife after the Nazi's invaded. While in Paris, Hans's animal drawings came to the attention of French publisher, who commissioned him to write a children's book. The result, Rafi and the Nine Monkeys, is little remembered today, but one of its show more characters, an adorably impish monkey named Curious George, was such a success that the couple considered writing a book just about him. Their work was interrupted with the outbreak of World War II. As Jews, the Reys decided to flee Paris before the Nazis seized the city. Hans built two bicycles, and they fled Paris just a few hours before it fell. Among the meager possessions they brought with them was the illustrated manuscript of Curious George. The books were published by Houghton Mifflin in 1941. Curious George was an instant success, and the Reys were commissioned to write more adventures of the mischievous monkey and his friend, the Man in the Yellow Hat. They wrote seven stories in all. Their title Happy Halloween made The New York Times Best Seller List in 2013. At first, Margret's name was left off the cover because there was a glut of women already writing children's fiction. In later editions, this was corrected, and Margret now receives full credit for her role in developing the stories. H. A. Rey died in 1977 and in 1989 Margaret Rey established the Curious George Foundation to help creative children and prevent cruelty to animals. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
