Description

"The bestselling journey of one woman throughout time ... the narrow stairway inside the mountain led to a door that opened into a huge marble plateau. Upon this stood a stone circle of nine of the largest hunks of polished crystal Tory had ever seen. A turbulent cloud erupted overhead, its core alive with electromagnetic activity. For twenty years the kingdoms of Prydyn, Dumnonia and Dalriada have prospered in peace under the guidance of their High King, Maelgwn of Gwynedd, and his good show more Queen, Tory. But when the High King is stricken with madness and a mysterious plague, Britain is set to be thrown into the chaos of yesteryear. Tory seeks the advice of an advanced civilisation that thrived long before recorded history, where men of great learning and miracles were abundant. The women of the Otherworld agree to aid Tory to make her passage back through time. But once in Atlantis, Tory must use her own devices to find the cure she seeks and a way to return to her loved ones in the Dark Ages." -- publishers note. show less

A fun read with with some interesting characters and twists in the story. It is nice to read works by a local Australian writer. I think this is better than the first book in the trilogy (her first published work) - TH seems to get better as she goes. It will be interesting to read the final book in the trilogy and some of her later works.
For twenty years now, Tory Alexander, from the 20th century, has ruled as Queen with her beloved, King Maelgwn of Gwynned in 6th century Britain. But the dark forces are stirring and Tory must travel the realms of time to find a cure for the High King's strange sickness before it spreads throughout the kingdoms. Tory seeks the advice of the triple Goddess, and the women of the Otherworld send Tory through time to Plato's City of the Golden Gates – Atlantis. Once there Tory has to find her own way home, and a cure for Maelgwn's sickness. All her strength of character and resourcefulness is focussed to this end ...
I listened to about a quarter of this book. Not for me . Very disappointing as I thought it would be a better story line. Did not like the narrator's voice. I think she made the story much harder to follow than it probably was and online reviews have it as a 4 star book. I'm not going to rate it all. MAy have another crack at it and see.....
I see, at the time of writing my review, that no-one else has bothered to review this book. I think that speaks volumes. Enough said. Not my cup of tea!
