The threads of previous stories are fitted into place, gathering momentum, seeming to build up into a love story between the duke's daughter and the poor mechanic. As with all the books in the Williamsburg series, what initially seems will be a light romance, evolves into a story with many layers, interwoven with actual historical events. These then, depicted well and realistically, give a good view into what it must have been like to live during the times the story is set in. Always a captivating read.
