I liked the vicious family melodrama in this one - taking it up a notch and borrowing an episode from a soap opera. The main character has a backbone and enjoyable personality, although I did get irritated with her on thinking she had no choice with the way her body responded to the 'hero' when he was being particularly vicious or insulting to her. Screw him. It wasn't a romantic union (money!), but it turned out semi-sweet in the end. There's a little bit of force too, awkward. Really the main appeal of this one was the back and forth with some other female vipers in the family and the misunderstandings (which aren't usually something I enjoy). Catherine George writes well and avoids melodrama at least.
