Description

Exposing the medium hired to contact the ghost of a dead girl as a fake doesn't solve mysterious events but makes them more puzzling.

Still Remember This From the 70s….

I loved THE GHOST NEXT DOOR in grade school, and it is dated, but it’s still a pretty good supernatural children’s book, nonetheless.

Twelve-year-old Lindsey Morrow lives near Atlanta, where the houses are surrounded by large, wooded lots and many of the neighbors are doctors of one kind or another. She and her best friend, Tammy, begin to investigate when strange things occur around Sherry Alston - a visiting niece of their next-door neighbor. Is Sherry really communicating with the spirit of her sister who drowned in the pond thirteen years ago? Finding the owl with love in its eyes will lead to the answer.
One of my favorite books from my childhood. I should bring it home for Madeleine to read.
Picked up at the thrift by chance, didn't know this existed although I collect YA books illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman. Her work improved so many of the books I used to check out of the public library. I would never have read " A Room Made of Windows" if I hadn't wanted to see the beautiful line drawings.

What a delight for me to get so many of my favorite things with this transaction: a good bargain half off, something to add to one of the Collections, and a pretty good story to boot. Admittedly I've stopped before the set up is complete, but I quite look forward to finishing the book, which doesn't always happen with a kid book. Sometimes I find them too boring, predictable, boilerplate, phoned in. But I'm old enough for the AARP show more and have an awful lot of books, so if I skip one sometimes, that's OK. show less
