Description

All The World's A Stage -- but What If The Play Doesn't Go As Planned? Four talented girls from vastly different pasts share a dream of stardom: Cinnamon, the edgy actress; Ice, the phenomenal vocalist; Rose, the beautiful dancer; and Honey, the first-rate violinist. The four meet at the prestigious Senetsky School of the Performing Arts -- housed in an ornate New York City mansion -- and become instant friends as they take off on a dazzling whirlwind of intense classes, theater outings, and show more celebrity-studded parties. And together they bend the strict house rules of Madame Senetsky, a famous actress who guarantees success for students under her tutelage. But they soon realize this is no ordinary school. Madame Senetsky pushes the girls' studies beyond reason. She controls their social lives. And they get the strange feeling someone is watching them. But who...and why? Cinnamon, Ice, Rose, and Honey set out to untangle a shadowy web of Senetsky family secrets. As they explore dark corners and hidden rooms, every creak and moan of the old mansion tells a story too frightening to repeat. A devastating story that can destroy their dreams... show less

Shooting Stars miniseries... Jul 2001 through Dec 2001

IDK why the Estate or Neiderman thought it was necessary to release three mini-series in three years other than to attract a younger audience since by this point VCA had already been dead for 15 years. But, whatever. There would be another couple of miniseries released sporadically after this, but fortunately after the Shooting Stars miniseries he went back to writing regular-sized books for a while.

Cinnamon and Ice were okay. Rose and Honey were terrible. I was hoping this book might be better and the ghostwriter would give up on these miniseries and go back to full family series show more (which he never truly did, as future series were awful) and I was eager to see what would happen in this culmination of the Shooting Stars series. I wanted to see what would happen to the girls at Madame Senetsky's school.

However, this series isn't even focused on family secrets or anything. At least not the girl's own. It was ultimately very disappointing, because it centered on Madame Senetsky's own secrets rather than the girls, so I wonder what the point of even writing this series was. Also, descriptions remain inconsistent, as the previously auburn-haired Cinnamon is now black-haired in this book, and there are also a few typos and errors (sadly, not the only book this has happened in) I can't recommend this book or series whether or not you're a VCA (or the ghostwriter) fan, it's simply not well-written or thought out, period.

Born on June 6, 1924 in Portsmouth, Va., Virginia Cleo ("V. C.") Andrews was one of three children of William Henry and Lillian Lilnora. Andrews worked as a commercial fashion and portrait artist for a time. However, after her father's death in the late 1960s and the family's subsequent move to Manchester, Mo, she began what she described as show more "closet" writing. It was her publisher's decision to use the initials V. C. rather than her full name. This was done for the purpose of neutralizing her gender so as to sell to adult male audiences; the common belief was that men did not like to read books by women writers. Andrews eventually became a full-time writer. Her first novel was a science fiction fantasy entitled The Gods of the Green Mountains, published in 1972. In 1980, she published the bestseller Flowers in the Attic, followed by Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, and Garden of Shadows; all of which comprise the Dollanganger Series. Andrews died of breast cancer on December 19, 1986, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After her death, her family hired a ghost writer, Andrew Neiderman, to finish the manuscripts she had started. He would complete the next two novels, Garden of Shadows and Fallen Hearts, and they were published soon after. These two novels are considered the last to bear the "V. C. Andrews" name and to be almost completely written by Andrews herself. She left a legacy of books that have been sold worldwide and translated into 13 foreign languages. (Bowker Author Biography) V.C. Andrews' novels have sold more than eighty-five million copies and have been translated into sixteen foreign languages. All 38 of V.C. Andrews' novels have hit the New York Times bestseller list.
