Psychic Solutions #3
What a delight to return to Aferthough, South Carolina! The Malcolms and Ives – in any century – are always a treat to spend time with!
What I liked:
* Afterthought: small town filled with quirky characters, many have interesting paranormal-psychic abilities, a safe harbor for more than one, fun to revisit
* Evangeline “Evie” Malcolm Carstairs: able to see and talk to ghosts, tiny but mighty, ward to Loretta, with Jax now for six months, really like her
* Damon Ives Jackson “Jax”: lawyer, ex-military, leader, wise, good friend, brother to Ariel, ward of Loretta, protective, really into Evie
* Loretta: arrived in book one, the Indigo Child, ward of Jax and Evie, sees bubbles-souls, growing up, getting ready to celebrate her birthday
* Ariel Ives Jackson: neurodivergent, prefers routine, regimented, great computer skills, enjoys unraveling puzzles, grows in this book…want to see what happens next with her and Roark
* Roark LeBlanc: ex-military, worked with Reuben and Jax in the military, computer hacker, on a mission to put his con-man father and relatives out of business, smitten with Ariel
* Reuben Thompson: ex-military, worked with Jax and Roark in the military, brilliant with computers, helping out with the ongoing investigations, might have something going with Larraine?
* The growing relationship between Roark and Ariel – wonder how that will work out
* That Jax and Evie are still together – can’t wait for them to commit forever
* The introduction of Dante Alfonso Ives Rossi: relative to Jax, archaeologist, there to warn them, intriguing addition to the cast, will he end up with one of Evie’s cousins?
* The cases that were solved and how they were unraveled
* That the bad guys were revealed and dealt with
* All the possibilities for stories yet to come – wondering what will happen in book four
* All of it really…great fun and great escape!
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like: con artists, thieves, and murderers...
