Ok narrators, do some research already. It's not Hop's solvent, it's Hoppy's. Hoppe is how it's spelled, but ask a gunsmith and you'll know. Not hard. ( )

Vigilante vs. Criminal
Review of the Amazon Original Stories Kindle eBook (December 13, 2022).

This had a clever bait & switch somewhat like the author's The Rule of Threes (2024) but it would be spoilery to discuss that further. It becomes evident now that the Broken Doll series is not being told in chronological order and that #2 Dodge actually takes place before #1 The Pain Hunter. The pieces are fitting into place quite well though with Dodge apparently being a reference to the cat and mouse game being played out between a vicious criminal and the vigilante who is determined to end their career by one means or another.

The significance of The Broken Doll title was not apparent to me in this second entry of the series.

Dodge is novella #2 of 4 interrelated stories issued in The Broken Doll series. ( )

Reminds me I should read e of Deaver’s books. A cleverly plotted story with great impactful details. A federal agent going after a goon who has beaten her partner to death. ( )

Quality absolute quality the second novella or short story whichever you prefer, in this series of four that have numerous links as explained by the Author before you start the book. Well written clever page turner riveting from start to finish, plenty of surprises tension and superb characterisation throughout.
Completely recommended. ( )
