This is Not A Unicorn is a fun, bright, colourful picture book that is silly and includes a lot of different words for those beginning to read. It has a cute ending. However, the book fails to stand out. With so many picture books about unicorns this is not one that stands out from the crowd. ( )

This book is super cute, bright, and colorful! I love the play on words with all the examples of what the not-unicorn is instead - 'oar-icorn' on a kayak, 'spoon-icorn' dishing out ice cream. Kids will have fun coming up with their own not-unicorn ideas! ( )

This is a fun book for preschoolers through about first grade. It's about a silly unicorn who can do all sorts of fun and useful things because its horn changes shape. It's written in rhyme (though the meter is a bit awkward at times) and it has a positive message. The pictures are vibrant and engaging. My 6 year old liked it, and my 9 year old found it amusing enough that she was happy to listen as I read it. If the rhyme and meter flowed a little bit better it would be a great book, but it's a good book as is. ( )

A girl meets a unicorn with a magic horn that can transform into a variety of helpful tools from a horn, to a spoon, and ... The reader can guess what this magic animal is until it is revealed at the end of the book.

This book comes "With a FREE Stories Aloud audio book! See inside front cover." The QR code to access the audio is found on the back cover instead. "Stories Aloud Scan this QR code on your smartphone for a free audio reading of this book." The URL for the website loosely associated with the audio is listed above the QR code. The URL doesn't provide a means of accessing the audio (presumably the support e-mail address could be used to ask for the URL if the reader had a device connected to the internet and didn't know how to scan a QR code).

The audio is pleasant and includes sound effects that correspond to the activities in the book. ( )
