It also discusses the analytic geometry of Ren Descartes and Pierre Fermat, the alternative coordinate systems invented by Isaac Newton, and the solid geometry of Leonhard Euler. This book is divided into three parts, corresponding to three different geometries. I enjoyed the introduction very much as well as Part I: Euclidean Geometry. This part of the book contains a proper mix of math and history, and, to a person who studied geometry in high school, is both comprehensible and lively. I got bogged down in Part II: Projective Geometry as I was not familiar with the geometry and the theorems are just harder. But I plan to continue with this very promising book and others by the same author.
