Gregory Maguire’s The Witch of Maracoor concludes his Another Day spin-off from the Wicked Years with Rain Thropp determining to return to Oz. She hopes to make up for some of her mistakes where possible, such as bringing pollen from the Caryatids of Maracoor to a far-flung island as her attempt to drown the Grimmerie altered the weather that would have normally spread their pollen. She then makes her way back to Oz, though not without some further personal complications. Iskinaary tries his best to provide her advice as she leaves her adolescence, reunites with her father, and takes on her new identity as a witch. Maguire ends his story on an ambiguous note, leaving characters free to go forward in their lives forever changed due to show more the events in Another Day. The full trilogy works well as a spin-off with a distinctive tone from the original. As in the previous two volumes, Debra Wise does a wonderful job in her reading of the book, embodying each character with a unique voice. show less
