We live in central, rural Kansas and have been using this book alongside a Bird Unit in our homeschool. We have truly loved having this book to run to anytime we see a new bird or need to look something up from our textbooks. It's been invaluable!
I received this book maybe 15 years ago from an overstocked library, and I've enjoyed it. It does not have pictures of the birds, which would make it easier to identify them, but it does have illustrations of them. I used to enjoy sketching these when I was young, and now I use the book to try to identify the birds I find outside my house. It is a large book, and does not work well as a field guide, but its fun to page through, and be able to identify the random birds you see outside your window.

I received this book as a gift from my grandmother years ago. It's not really good as a field guide, as it's a large hardcover. It has lovely illustrations though, with basic information about each species, so it's a nice coffeetable book.
I own a website http://www.katiebugsbirdhouse.com and I sell bird houses so I like to read up on bird watching and stuff tjis book was really informitive of the birds found in North America
good pictures, have not read informative
