[...] one gets the distinct impression that Reign of Shadows is made up of parts of two mostly separate books which have been grafted together so that we get the first half of each story. [...] There's promise in this book, and it's a shame that modern publishing trends have conspired to prevent [Chester] from offering readers a viably structured story.
