A cab driver helps a genetically engineered girl save the world.

A shameless and uninhibited celebration of 1970s and 80s sci-fi artwork and movies. Lots of fun. It pulls off a nearly impossible balance of not taking itself seriously, but also not quite being a comedy. It should never have worked - should have turned out a disastrous, big-budget sci-fi version of Hudson Hawk - but somehow it does work.

Hilarious fun. Like those old British plays where all the characters talk at cross purposes and misunderstand each other and where precise timing is essential to the confusion.

This is overall a pretty fun science fiction romp movie. Leeloo's distinctive orange outfit really has not aged well, I cringe when I see it now (i know this is meant to be sci fi and sci fi has some weird outfits, but what the fuck were the costume designers thinking when they came up with that orange strappy thing?) but the rest of the movie is really a lot of fun with some fantastic scenes.
One of my all-time favorite movies, which I can watch again and again. Even the parts that are a bit annoying at first, such as Chris Tucker, become funny on repeated viewings. And I can't think of an alien to match Milla Jovovich. A perfect Bruce Willis role as well, and Gary Oldman is great as the evil Zorg, especially the scene in his office. The look of this film is just fantastic. A must-see.
2025 movie #206. 1997. Taxicab driver, Corbin Dallas (Willis) is entrusted with The Fifth Element (Jojovich), part of a weapon to save the earth from an evil approaching from space. This is at least the 4th time I've seen this movie. I love it.
Hilarious Surprise! A double roller coaster's worth of Fun!
In the twenty-third century, the universe is threatened by evil. The only hope for mankind is the Fifth Element, who comes to Earth every five thousand years to protect the humans with four stones of the four elements: fire, water, Earth and air. A Mondoshawan spacecraft is bringing The Fifth Element back to Earth but it is destroyed by the evil Mangalores. However, a team of scientists use the DNA of the remains of the Fifth Element to rebuild the perfect being called Leeloo. She escapes from the laboratory and stumbles upon the taxi driver and former elite commando Major Korben Dallas that helps her to escape from the police. Leeloo tells him that she must meet Father Vito Cornelius to accomplish her mission. Meanwhile, the Evil uses show more the greedy and cruel Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg and a team of mercenary Mangalores to retrieve the stones and avoid the protection of Leeloo. But the skilled Korben Dallas has fallen in love with Leeloo and decides to help her to retrieve the stones. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (IMDb) show less
