If only there was a guidebook on how to land the London boy of your dreams¿Nora Shrapsan is literally writing the book on London, and she's not going to let fantasies about her sexy British ex-boyfriend break her stride. So what if she has been reunited with semi-famous rock star Hugh Jeffries, and their chemistry is still palpable? He's engaged, and Nora needs to focus on¿anything besides Hugh's lips. Julian Rhodes is Hugh's best mate, and his secret feelings for Nora are one thing that won't stay in the past. When a desperate Nora begs him to help her navigate London, Julian has to say yes-strictly to keep her from getting fired, of course. Surely, they can go to murder tours, magic shows, and museums without any feelings getting in the way. No problem. But the more time Nora and Julian spend together, the less Nora finds herself thinking of Hugh. Maybe her second-chance romance didn't go according to plan, but that doesn't mean Nora could ever fall for her ex's best friend, right?… (more)

Whatever it was that made me pick this book I’m very glad of it! The ultimate second chance romance, but maybe not even in the way you expect! Oh to be 19 again and remember a time when you saw love and the world differently. Would you still have the same outlook and feelings if you could experience it again seven years later? Nora gets her dream job and is able to return to the city where she and her first love blossomed. There is so much hope and so many expectations and all the feels! The writing is amazing and I was laughing out loud and cheering and yes, crying. I was so disappointed with Julian at the end. His lack of confidence was devastating. But overall such a wonderful story of life and love. The characters have great humor and awesome chemistry. I honestly would love a sequel perhaps staring Nora’s mom and Julian’s dad! Definitely a great read! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. ( )

This is a cute book, but that’s about all I can say about it. If I didn’t have to finish it for this review, I probably would have DNFed it. If required a bit of suspension of disbelief in quite a few places but if you’re looking for a fun, light, quick read that doesn’t require a lot of thinking, this might do the trick for you.
Nora lands her dream job of being a travel writer, which requires her to return to London after a seven-year absence. When she was there before, she engaged in a summer fling with Hugh, the lead singer and songwriter of a band called the Pet Rockers. Of course, her first assignment in London is to go to a pub where the Pet Rockers are playing. In the interim seven years, the Pet Rockers have become famous and in this extremely crowded pub, Hugh’s best friends spot Nora and insist she make her way backstage to reunite with Hugh.
Seeing Nora reignites Hugh’s feelings for her, which works out well since she’s dreamt of nothing but a second chance with him since she suddenly left London seven years ago. Of course, there’s the small matter of Hugh’s fiancée, Rose, to work out. There’s also the fact that that one of Hugh’s best friends, Julian, has always secretly been in love with Nora.
In the meantime, Nora is supposed to be working and her boss isn’t happy with her work. The one thing that seems to make Nora’s work better is when Julian accompanies her on work trips, so they find themselves traipsing around London together — but only for work — when Nora’s mom has a health emergency that requires her immediate attention. This is things got a bit absurd, especially considering the salaries the involved characters live on.
While this book is ostensibly about Nora — we follow her all around the world — we also get third person narratives from Hugh and Julian. Whether this book is actually about Nora, Hugh, or Julian is up to the reader. The book seemed to want to be about all three, while focusing more on Nora. It also wrapped up a bit too quickly and neatly considering the purported flaws in each of the characters. ( )

Nora is back in London; this time, instead of a teenage summer abroad, she's landed her dream job as a travel guidebook writer. Navigating the city should be as easy as her first trip there, but life never works that way. Nora must contend with fitting in at her new job and memories of the past—namely Hugh, her first-ever love, and Julian, Hugh's best friend and her latest companion in exploring London with her, helps give a local perspective.

This book is about first loves and how life shapes us all. The banter is cute, and the story made me smile. I loved the addition of Nora's interest in history and the macabre. The characters were relatable, and I just have to say that Julian stole my heart from the beginning.

It does contain two open-door spice scenes and is a fast-paced read. I was drawn into Nora's sunshine nature and liked that she was never afraid to be herself. The side characters were a great addition and helped to further the story. If you're a fan of romantic comedies, quirky female main characters, witty banter, and a heartwarming happily ever after, this book is a must-read. ( )

Nora dated Hugh during her college study abroad in London, and has idolized him as the one who got away ever since. Seven years later she returns for work and reconnects with him and his best friend, Julian.

No one cheats. No one’s the bad guy. These are relatable, flawed, likable characters. Nora works past who she was at nineteen and what she thought love looked like to figure out who she is and what she wants as an adult. This was such a great feel good book, with happy endings for everyone. ( )
