Sweet enemies to lover, hea. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I recently finished reading My Enemy, My Prince that left me thoroughly impressed. This book is a beautiful blend of romance and fantasy, captivating from start to finish. The characters are wonderfully developed, each one bringing depth and richness to the story. Their growth throughout the book is both believable and engaging, making it easy to become emotionally invested in their journeys. The writing style is smooth and easy to read, which makes for an enjoyable reading experience. The author has a talent for storytelling, crafting a world that is both immersive and enchanting. While there are some unanswered questions by the end of the book, this doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment. In fact, it adds a layer of intrigue and anticipation. I am hopeful that a second book might be in the works, which would provide the answers and further expand on this fascinating world. Overall, this romantasy novel is a gem that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a well-written and enchanting read. I eagerly await the possibility of a sequel. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I found this story very cliched, full of tropes, and the love story shallow. There's a maddening amount of backstory that is never fully realized - maddening because it's all actually really interesting, and I would have loved to have learned more about the Empire and the politics of psychic power, and instead we get pulled back into a love story that I never really bought, from two of the most contrary characters ever who cannot communicate to save their lives. It also needed a few runs from a continuity and tech editor. There was one scene with the MMC's clothing changing mid-scene. The book started out with shifting POVs and then moved to omnipotent POV. And lots of typos throughout. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I received this book through Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest review.
I quite enjoyed reading this book! It was a quick and easy read, however it felt like there were certain parts of the story could have been explored and described a bit more. no reviews | add a review

Commoner Ro weds Prince Corrado in an arranged marriage, they are specially matched due to their psychic powers. Very grumpy-grumpy in their relationship, there is little sunshine here in either of them. They butt heads quite a bit but are, of course, physically attracted to one another. I like that they're both awkward, it puts them on equal footing. I enjoyed how reluctantly attracted they are to one another, and the sheer level of grumpiness from both of them was initially a lot of fun. I really liked that the Prince isn't presented as a suave ladies man and is, in fact, extremely socially awkward as well as arrogant.
I wanted to love this book more than I did, and I did honestly enjoy parts of it. But while the premise was good, the execution was lacking in a few areas. This book moves slowly, and there's a lot of build-up. Some of it never pays off, which was frustrating. By 2/3 of the way through it seemed like things weren't going to get resolved by the end of the book, leading me to wonder if this is going to be a series? The resolution for this story came at the very last minute and created an abrupt and unsatisfying ending that left some questions unanswered and sub-plots unresolved. I honestly liked the first half of the book better than the second half.
There is a dual POV, which I always like since we get insight into both characters. However, it kept shifting back and forth without warning which was hard to track at times. The tropes include arranged marriage and forced-proximity. It's described as enemies-to-lovers but they didn't initially feel like enemies to me, just strangers. There was more explanation about this as the story goes on, there's strong themes of imperialism and colonialism that explains much of it. The lack of communication was frustrating and seemed overdone, and they just kept getting angry at one another without much resolution or attempts to compromise or be genuine. It was harder to like them as a couple as the book went on, partly because I didn't like them much as individuals.
One of my biggest issues is that there wasn't as much emphasis on the magic as I thought there would be. It reads less like fantasy (albeit set in an alt-universe Earth) and more like an arranged royal marriage historical romance. The magic started being more of a focus later in the book, but it was never explained enough to satisfy me. This is an open-door book with maybe too many spicy scenes, only in that a few of those scenes could have been cut in favor of more focus on the magic and how and why it affects them and their homelands. There should also be content warnings because of the child enslavement and childhood trauma that's covered in the story.
Finally, this book would benefit from additional proofreading. There were typos and editing errors ("x" as a placeholder for a character's name in at least one spot, some missing and mis-spelled words, etc.), as well as some formatting issues.
Overall, I think this was a good debut story with a solid premise and some enjoyable writing that would have benefitted from more editing and proof-reading, as well as from more focus on the magical/fantasy aspects. ( )
