Description
""Who knew being a heartless killing machine would present so many moral dilemmas?" Science fiction's favorite antisocial A.I. is back in Rogue Protocol! The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is. And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good. In Exit Strategy, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah--its former owner (protector? show more friend?)--submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit. But who's going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it's caught?"-- show lessTags

At last, The Murderbot Diaries are being reissued in omnibus editions, each collecting two of the novellas. I suspect this is as a tie-in to the Apple tv series; whilst the Tor novellas were nice things to have, especially in hardback, they did make rather premium products, and some of us have to count our pennies....
This second volume collects together Rogue Protocol and Exit Strategy, which is good because these two stories (third and fourth in the overall sequence) are fairly closely linked, unlike the first two. The novelty of Murderbot itself has worn off a little, but there is still a lot of entertainment to be had from its asides, its internal monologue and its opinions. There is also plenty of action, some fairly frantic show more world-building going on under the surface, and a Monty Python Easter Egg in Rogue Protocol. I stayed up far too late finishing this off, which should tell you something. show less

I'll go to hell and back if it means being able to spend a little time with Murderbot.....even though it would be terrified of that scenario.
