Edward D. Hoch was the most ingenious of modern mystery writers. He was author of more than 900 short stories, winner of the Edgar Award, former President of the Mystery Writers of America, and contributor to every issue of Ellery Queens Mystery Magazine since 1973 until his death in 2008. As John Dickson Carr remarked, "Satan himself would be show more proud of his ingenuity." The introduction is by Janet Hutchings, editor of Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. show less
