This series is widely and wildly popular, despite major flaws in writing style, many deplorable characters (and some of those are the good guys), and juvenile view of interpersonal relationships.
It is a Soap Opera in format, and just about as tedious; however, the overall world-building and basic plot-line were interesting despite its abysmal deficiencies. ( )

In a long gone past, or maybe a remote future, or in another universe, the identity of mankind comes illustrated by the rise of a man twisting the world around himself, and the way the world both resists and lets go. Which one controls the other ? Has anyone ever had any control ?
Read about Rand Al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn ; read about the world as it once was, and as it then became ; read about what mankind was, is and ever will be.
