I am so happy to have finally added the Encyclopedia to my little library. Many persons and places related to the Stone-Campbell religious heritage are reported on, which makes it especially valuable to me. Nicely done! Still available on the used book market. (

If you buy only one book about Kentucky, this is the book to buy. Every aspect of Kentucky history is covered in detail. This is a compilation of articles submitted by over 500 people on various topics ranging from prehistoric Kentucky to modern times. Each one is a facinating description of Kentucky history that reads like a short story. I never tire of reading this book! Is is a must read for anyone who has ever been to or lived in Kentucky. (

The Kentucky Bicentennial Commission was formed in 1986 to plan a celebration to commemorate Kentucky's admission as the fifteenth state in the Union.

ABELL, IRVIN. Irvin Abell, surgeon, was born on September 13, 1876, to William Irvin and Sarah Silesia (Rogers) Abell in Lebannon, Kentucky.
