When Ted bumps his knee one day, he decides that what he needs is a doctor. Unfortunately, none is available, so he becomes one himself, diagnosing first his mother, then his classmates, and eventually his teacher and principal. Needless to say, this leads to some tension. But when Mrs. Johnson is injured at recess, Dr. Ted steps in and coolly manages the situation, while the principal panics. Going to bed with the happy consciousness of doing his job, Ted wakes up the next day to the smell of burnt toast, deciding that he is now a firefighter...

I enjoyed Dr. Ted, which offers an amusing picture-book examination of imaginative play in the life of one little boy. Ted's diagnoses are quite humorous, and his proposed solutions - a body show more cast for gingivitis! - sure to be giggle-inducing, especially for young children who appreciate silly stories. Although the artwork, done by Pascal LemaƮtre, isn't really to my taste, it is colorful, and has a cartoon-like style that will appeal to many young children. Recommended to anyone looking for picture-books about imaginative play, especially where that imaginative play involves children trying out adult roles. show less
Doctor Ted is a such a funny book and the children get a kick out of it. Ted has a great imagination and discovers he is not feeling good so he wants to become a doctor. He goes to school and wants to take care of everyone that has anything wrong, and makes up all these crazy diagnosis. This book has a great use of vocabulary that kids may have never heard of and can use prior experiences to teach it. You could also use pictures and how a word sounds to figure it out. For example, I used mumps in the book. I asked mumps sounds like bumps? So what do you think it is? I had an answer saying it could mean its a sickness that has bumps. The kids loved it!
Doctor Ted is a silly little bear who decides he needs to become a doctor after bumping his knee and not finding one near by. Through out his day he frustrates everyone but in the end he proves to be just what his teacher needs, A DOCTOR!
This book is about a funny little bear that pretends to be a doctor and help everyone except everyone seems frustrated with him trying to help. He says things the wrong way and offends alot of people. In the end, one of the teachers that scolded him throughout the day gets hurt and Doctor Ted is there to help her. Very humerous!
I really enjoyed this story. I would read this to K-2 grade. It is a good story to help your students laugh a little bit.
