This was a gut wrencher; again, Martin touches on edgy subjects but this time in a more seductive way. Nora’s best friend’s business partner is found dead on the sidewalk minutes after his exposure for serious financial crimes has been made public.
Nora’s efforts to clear her friend of any suspicion are clouded by a number of factors involving her own family and the cloudiness of the victim’s family life, both of which reveal some rather startling revelations for everybody.
I remember reading this the first time and the feelings of dread and shock I felt as answers to the myriad questions were discovered; there were no happy endings for anyone in this book, although there were some hilarious moments along the way.
Having read the show more entire series, I think I’d say this is the best entry of the 10. show less

The Summary: Dead bodies are the norm for Nora Blackbird. The twist is her parents involvement. Their presence makes solving mysteries look easy.
The Take Away: It was great to see Nora's parents in action instead of merely hearing about them I really would have liked to have given them a good shake and asked what on earth are you thinking.
I do have to wonder how Nora remained normal, perhaps being the narrator has some added perks. She even manages to make her gangster boyfriend and lover appear normal.
I was thinking about the timeline of the series. A book a year places them at seven years in writing, but the story timeline only is a year. Maybe 18 months. I really hope my own life is never quite so eventful.

Nora is once again fighting to keep her crazy family from imploding when, right in the middle of Philadelphia's chocolate festival, her dearest friend's business partner is pushed to his death. While Nora tries to clear her friend, even more family chaos ensues and Mick the underworld love of her life reappears.
This is probably the best of the series and they have all been great fun. New characters and more complications left me anxious for the next installment.

Number 7 in the series. This one has Nora is investigating the death of a noted philanthropist. But the philanthropist was not all he appeared to be. He was financing his charity by stealing from the investment firm he worked for. Also in this book Nora and Michael are taking a break. Libvy has been his by a rolls royce and Emma appears to be on a bender due to some shocking news.
Love it, love it, love it. This is as good as it gets. I was a little worried about this series going off the rails, but Nancy Martin keeps all the balls in the air with grace and style.

Actually a MINUS One!
This rating is low because I absolutely HATED the selfishness of Nora's Entire family Period! It is a shame too, because I normally like Nora, but she was so fraking dysfunctional, weak, & mealy-mouthed... and I like Michael & Lexi & Crew.....
But I Absolutely Hated This Book!
