Description
Imagine a world of gods and demons, where men are warriors, women are beautiful, life is a fantastic adventure, and the fate of kingdoms balances on the bloody blade of a fabulous hero: Conan of the iron thews, the blue-eyed barbarian giant who towers above the savage Hyborian world. This is the work that relaunched Conan in both the 1970s and 80s, back in print after more than a decade. Come live the adventure again. Read this collection of linked Conan shorts three times, the first being in my early teens, the second in my early twenties, and *lastly* in my late thirties.
I enjoyed it very much as a teen, a little less so second time around, and by the third time I came to realise that the best Conan tales are written by Robert E. Howard.
This is one of the better collections by other writers, though, so unless you’re a Conan-by-Howard-only reader, it’s worth checking out.

Overwritten but brisk.
I grew up reading the Conan stories finished mostly by Carter & DeCamp, so tend to like them better. Wagner was an excellent writer & I loved his Kane books. The rest are OK.
