This book and it's predecessor TTYL tell the story of three best friends via their online message conversations. Full of teenage drama and power of having best friends by your side, it's no wonder this is such a hit with the teen scene. It's cute and interesting, and a little more tame than TTYL, but still sure to get some challenges from parents. If that's not enough to get teens to read it, I don't know what is.
After everything they've been through together, Angela, Maddie, and Zoe know they'll be friends till the end--but sometimes the fates (or parents) have other plans.
With sophomore year and its troubles behind them, the winsome threesome is on cruise control, enjoying the well-earned perks of being sixteen. But then Angela (SnowAngel) gets some seriously bad family news :'( that threatens to change her life forever. On top of that, Maddie (mad maddie) decides to let loose her wild side :P and Zoe (zoegirl) struggles to keep a big secret from Angela :O. Will junior year pull the girls apart just when they need each other most? Only their instant messages reveal the full story...
I really enjoyed this! In fact, I read the first 20 pages yesterday and read the rest of the book tonight.

I liked this one better than the first book, "ttyl". I think it was because I could relate a little more to the girls and the dilemmas they faced in this story. Myracle does a great job helping the reader discover the characters through IMs.
A story of three teenage girls told through their instant messages to each other. This year they have boy troubles, they are faced with tough decisions about drugs and sex, and one girl moves away when her dad loses his job. Tension are high but in the end, they learn from their mistakes and decide that friendship is the most important thing. This book was on the most challenged book list last year. I don't feel it promotes bad behavior, but the content is mature. There are many topics in this book that opposers took out of context, but when read with the rest of the story it's clear that the author was just trying to address many different issues that teenagers may/most likely will face.
This one was a little better than the first in the series. It read a little slower, but I got through it. I still cringe at their use of "anywayz" and abbreviations ("u", "ur", "c u l8r", etc.) but I guess that comes with the territory of a story written in IMs.

Just a caution when possibly recommending this book: it does contain some drug use, and while it results in punishment of the character, it's kind of glossed over. Young readers probably won't care, since they've probably watched worse on TV and/or are aware of worse going on in their schools, but their parents might object.

Teen girls go through some crazy stuff so TALK about it. If they can't talk about the issues in this book with their parents (peer pressure to try marijuana, sexuality, unhappiness at home) then at least they can read about it in this book. Teenagers aren't alone and they're not the first people to go through these things but it is the lucky ones that have wise and caring adults to validate and respect this transitional time.
Angela has just found out that her family is moving to El Cerrito, California, and she doesn't know how she will survive without her best friends. Maddie makes some really bad moves with Clive, a pot-smoking hipster who wants to be "friends with benefits." Zoe and Angela both think that Maddie is going to turn into a pot just like him. Now Zoe finds herself falling for Doug, the sweet poet who has had a crush on Angela forever. Once Angela finds out Zoe and Doug she flips out ! She doesn't trust Zoe anymore and then their friendship all goes down hill. I'd have to give this book 4 out a 5 only because this is what most middle schoolers and high schoolers are going threw.
