Few Americans and even fewer citizens of other nations understand the electoral process in the United States. Still fewer understand the role played by political parties in the electoral process or the ironies within the system. Participation in elections in the United States is much lower than in the vast majority of mature democracies. This book was first published in 2007, came out in a second edition in 2016, and then a third edition in 2022. The third one, which I am looking at now, shows clear signs that the author had succumbed to TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). It would be interesting to compare the editions and it is fairly likely that earlier editions are just more useful. But one must do one's best with what is available.
Solid overview of the American Political system and all its foibles. Useful to have a good understanding of the Electoral College before the next couple of weeks...
