Description

Retired San Francisco cop Brad Lyon is settling into a quieter life with his wife Ashleigh in Virginia’s mountain country, where they collect and create teddy bears. But even here, stuff happens.

The peace of the Shenandoah Valley is shattered when an intruder breaks into the Lyon home and makes off with their antique Farnell Alpha teddy bear—one of the most celebrated stuffed animals in history, and also Brad’s gift to Ash on their twentieth wedding anniversary.

Afterward, life show more seems to be getting back to normal—until a trio of Japanese gangsters inexplicably shows up in town, and then the local museum director is found dead. Even though it all seems a bit fur-fetched, Brad knows he’s got a 187 on his hands—that’s California penal code for murder. show less

Brad needs some time away from the ladies of the Teddy Bear Guild so he sets off to spend the morning with Sergei. While there, two Japanese mobsters (Brad recognizes the markings) come in searching for the local Historical Museum. Curious after their departure, Brad goes to the museum where he finds the museum director dead.

Sheriff Tina (a member of the Guild) reports to the scene with Ashleigh (Brad's wife) and together they notice the fake antique teddy Bears on display. Using this point as a start, Brad and Ash along with Tina delve deeper into the Japanese visitors along with the people who were vital to the victim.

The third installment of the Teddy Collectors Series is more fun than the previous books because the reader is show more blessed with further development of the central characters while they join together to solve the murder of the local Museum director. Brad and Ashleigh are fully involved in the investigation and their relationship as well as their teddies continued to evolve. It was sensational to see the Boyds Bear locale described so perfectly. Can't wait for the next story! show less
Just as satisfying as the first two in this series. I really get a kick out of the idea that a retired homicide detective would enjoy collecting and making teddy bears. Character development is what drives this series (for me at least). I love watching what happens next in the characters' lives. It helps that the mysteries are good too - at least, I don't figure them out easily. I sure hope Lamb can keep up the good work. While I'd love to have another story NOW - I'd rather have another GOOD story.

I found this series by accident...a friend recomended it and I read the first book. Now I am playing catch up to get the past ones read before a new one comes out. I like that the main character is a retired homicide cop...how him and his wife solve each crime while attending teddy bear shows. The books are very well written and keep my attention from the time I pick them up until I put them down. I have been known to stay up late reading just to finish these books.
When his wife's anniversary gift-a valuable, antique teddy bear-is stolen, retired cop Brad Lyon must discover the fur-fetched connection between the theft and the murder of a local museum curator.
