This book tells a great tale about Miss Tizzy and children. She does things with them, like baking, skating, playing musical instruments and putting on puppet shows. She teaches and encourages them to be children and enjoy themselves. When she falls ill one day, the children do all of these things when she cant, all to make her feel better and she loves it. This book showcases the respect, love, compassion, and bond that Miss Tizzy and the children have. I believe that this book can teach children about caring for others and to enjoy themselves and life. As a reader, this book showed me the importance of spending quality time with people that you love and that compassion is essential. This book can teach young readers how to make show more friends, and be there for others in their times of need. show less
I enjoyed this book because the story was very touching and inspiring. This book is about a beloved woman named Miss Tizzy. She spent a lot of time with the children in the neighborhood by planning different fun activities for them to do. For example the text states, "On Mondays, Miss Tizzy baked cookies. She let the neighborhood children put in the raisins, and then lick the bowl while the cookies were baking. The children loved it." Throughout the story Miss Tizzy grows ill and is forced to stay in bed so the children did everything they could to comfort her. For example, "On Monday, they backed cookies with raisins and brought them to the pink house [Miss Tizzy's house]. On Tuesday, they stood in the yard and help up puppets to the show more window. They put on a puppet show just for Miss Tizzy." The main idea behind this book is that just one adult in a child's life can provide an outstanding role model for him/her. Miss Tizzy was a role model for all of the children in the neighborhood and even when she grew sick, the children still kept up with the traditions Miss Tizzy made for them. show less
The neighbors may think Miss Tizzy quite peculiar, but the children love her. They love her colorful house and her colorful clothes, but most of all they love the special attention she pays to them all.
Grades k-3; This was a cute book to read, I use to know someone like Miss Tizzy, she was agreat lady.
This story tells of a old lady named Miss Tizzy. She does special things with the children each day of the week. One day Miss Tizzy does not come out and the kids are unsure what is wrong. The kids did exactly the same thing that Miss Tizzy do with them.
Lovely story of a kind older woman and the joy she brings to children
Great Ideas to do with the students! it is a good book for treating older people with respect and love.
