Robbins has created some solid characters and has put them all together in a well plotted novel, for the most part, with 79 Park Avenue. This one is a bit tame in terms of sexual content, which is remarkable, considering the author's reputation and the plot. The first two-thirds of this novel is excellent, building up the path for the characters to take, as well as the anticipation of the reader. The final part is very underwhelming, without much details of the political and mob connections to the prostitution ring, and an abrupt ending.
I enjoyed it for the characterisation and the easy prose of Robbins, but felt let down by the end. ( )

Good storytelling. Robbins draws an interesting picture of the underprivileged and the crime syndicates of New York.
Marianne Flood runs a modeling agency as a front for a prostitution operation. She is on trial and the person prosecuting her is a man she loved.
Before the trial is resolved we learn their story and how they ended up on opposite sides of the law. ( )

This is Harold Robbins at his all time best. This book holds up even today and proves that Robbins is a master storyteller. ( )

Epigraph
AND they began to go out one by one, beginning with the eldest, till Jesus was left alone with the woman, still standing in full view. Then Jesus looked up and asked her, Woman, where are thy accusers? Has no-one condemned thee? No one, Lord, she said. And Jesus said to her, I will not condemn thee either.
